This, along with the news that Tony Hart can't paint any more after suffering a stroke, leaves me with the knowledge that Floella Benjamin and Brian Cant are still alive to keep my childhood alive.
"...Not very long ago, in the top left-hand corner of Wales, there was a railway. It wasn't a very long railway or a very important railway, but it was called The Merioneth and Llantisilly Rail Traction Company Limited, and it was all there was. And in a shed, in a siding at the end of the railway, lives the Locomotive of the Merioneth and Llantisilly Rail Traction Company Limited, which was a long name for a little engine so his friends just called him Ivor..."
Boz, I loved the little fire dragons that came on the engines. I know - Derek Griffiths is still alive and kicking too - he was my hero, he got in trouble on Playschool for drawing chest-hair on Hamble (the doll) with felt tip.
His book's fab, isn't it, Annie. Amazing family history. And I like the fact that he wasn't just this twinkly, grandfatherly figure, that he could be a cantankerous, opinionated sod as well. His Desert Island Discs was good for that too.

I had a little weep.
He's in KidsTV Valhalla, with Eric Thompson and Michael Hordern.
I'm sure he was a lovely man, but I retain my childhood phobia of stop-motion animation.
I did feel a bit sad when I saw the news. At least he lived to a ripe old age.
That's a nice thought, Tim.
Ivor the Engine was my favourite.

Sniff.
I'm with Boz.

Sniff x 2.
Most upsetting death since Ivor Cutler. (not to be confused with the Engine)
Tim, aw, I know. Did you ever read his book?
B, oh no! 70s kids TV must have been a minefield!
Rad, right, and it was a life to be proud of.

Del, did you know that by heart?
Billy - Ivor Cutler's gone?!
