What I made when I should have been writing 34 end of year reports. God, I'm bored.

Is that a curlew?

No, it is the PECKY NIGHTMARE BIRD OF DOOM AND DEATH.

Wow.

It beats playing tetris (what I do, writing my horrifying, brain-devouring already overdue essay.)

Amen to that, sister.

That's progress. The blogosphere was getting too full of itself anyway. Nothing like a bit of healthy competition.

Misiula- good luck with that. It's a long time since I wrote any essays. Ooh, Tetris...

Another Teacher, I find having a competition with your colleagues to see if you can slip in unexpected words, livens the whole thing up.

Del, are you kidding? It's like a morgue around here. Everyone's packing it in.

Well, then, they can't have been that committed. We bloggers were all keen to ring the death knell for conventional journalism. And all it's taken to distract us is Twitter. It's just a fad, same as Facebook. The truly committed will stay, and what they post will be the best. Just wait and seeee!

Del, the truly committed will publish the best posts because the competition have defected to Twitter. You're right about the fadness aspect, people will get bored of it like they have of MySpace when a new social network thingy comes along.
Hang in there, Annie. They'll soon come back, the internet is a fickle mistress.

Oh, I like this a lot. Twitter has certainly killed off a lot of the traffic that was coming to blogs, but i doubt it's killed the higher quality ones , the ones where people take the time to say what they think rather than making glib comments about pop culture and forwarding youtube clips to each other.
I like to optimistically imagine that there'll always be people out there writing good stuff.

Oh yes, it's just not as fun anymore. Should probably quit while I'm ahead.

Andrew said...

Quit when you find you've nothing worthwhile left to say, and not a minute before that.

It's not looking good for me, Andrew...
