Only connect

So, I arose from my sickbed & went to rent some videos & buy a scart lead but it's not working IT'S NOT WORKING IT'S NOT WORKING! Why does all electronica hate me?

The scart lead's connected to the TV...
The scart lead's connected to the DVD
The TV's connected to the mains socket...

I know I'm only a simple non-mechanical soul but it's not rocket science. What am I doing wrong??

I now have one Pineapple Express & one Buddha of Suburbia DVD which I cannot watch. And I had to pay a fine from last summer. Bah.

PS Good, happy yet cool songs to play at a wedding. Let's have 'em.

Is Groove is in the Heart appropriate? Always think that's a good 'un.

Is the DVD also connected to a mains socket?

BiB, oh yes, definitely.

GSE - yes. Phew.

Does your TV remote have an AV Select button (i.e. there should be a button which allows you to choose which video input to view, so you can switch between the signal from aerial lead, the SCART lead, and any other leads that you might have connected to the TV? Try pressing that to cycle through the different signal inputs. Sometimes the AV button is labelled with the word Source.

Alternatively, do the TV and DVD have more than one SCART socket on the back? If so, try the other sockets.

If all else fails, bash the serial number of the TV/DVD player into Google - nine times out of ten somebody else has had a similar problem and posted about it on a help forum.

I tried the other sockets. It's working. Hurrah! LC, I like you again.

Geez Annie - who needs a man around when you can just ask LC! Must make a mental note that was awesome:)

Tell me what Pineapple Express is like!

That's difference between men and women - TV/DVD doesn't work, but there are two SCART sockets available:

Man thinks: "I know, I'll try plugging it into the other socket to see if that works."

Woman thinks: "I know, I'll ask a man. Maybe he'll be able to help me pick some films that don't suck too."

Feel better soon, Annie. Enjoy your DVDs.

Sar, have you not learned yet that you should never be nice to LC?

LC, yes, yes, you are superior beings, I bow down, you win every arguement & know everything in the world ever - but the real question is, do you have a drill and could you come round and put up some shelves?

Kirses - not really, but we tolerate him because he can fix your DVD from afar.

Thanks Marsha. I can recommend the Buddha of Suburbia. I didn't get to Pineapple Express.

Yah - never mind him. Whatever-yawn.

What was the movie like?? I really wanted to see that. Seth Rogan is from Vancouver so a big fan.
