Modern love

Overheard on Oxford Street [I wasn't eavesdropping, they were walking right behind me talking ve-ry loudly]:

'So where'd you meet your girlfriend?'
'On MySpace.'
'MySpace?! Of all the places...'

But he sounds more jealous than surprised... It's all true, you heard it here first, the kids of today are no longer pulling in clubs, they're pulling in cyberspace.

Aha - should I be getting myself a MySpace? (or 'Munterspace' as Rockmother calls it?) Is Blogger no longer where it's at? (It's just the design is soooo unattractive.)

I thought that's what blogs were used for as well. You've met loads of people this way.

I was reading a story recently in one of the various tech industry rags I get at work about how online dating sites are facing increasing pressure from free social networking services like MySpace, Blogger, etc... because more people are finding partners through these sites.

I heard someone refer to MySpace as "my spaz" the other day.

There's a party over at my space. My parents are out. We can trash the space.

Sar, meeting them is lovely, but it's the icing on the cake, not why I started really - I think Myspace is purely about networking.

LC, a friend has a theory that you get more dates through the dating sites that charge, as people value something more if they pay for it... hmmmm...

Billy, hahaha! How un-PC, but funny.

Geoff "but someone hacked into my site and invited lots of dodgy people." Of course they did, love.

Ugh - munterspace. I know a few friends who have met people via Blogger - one has even deserted his 3 kids and wife for a fellow blogger - oh god - it's crazy out there.

I met the boy James through Blogger. I think. It was a long time ago.

RoMo, good lord. I've seen other stories like that - still it's bound to happen, just like it does in 'real life' I guess.

Llewtrah, Matt, Patroclus - aw! Sweet! Hurrah for the internet.
