Banksy

I love Banksy. Witty, political, accomplished and funny... They always give me a lift when I spot them around town. Or in my neighbourhood. I miss the Pulp Fiction characters in Old Street shooting with bananas, since the old bill painted them over. I agree whole-heartedly with what he says here. (I love this accent too.)

I don't know, I find a lot of it rather trite. Still it is better than most other graffiti (and billboards come to think of it)

Nice to hear his Brizzle accent too. :)

Trite? Really? Some of them are less serious than others, and not meant to be taken seriously I guess – that’s what I like about street art. It’s ephemeral and immediate, sometimes crude, like a kid poking their tongue out or sticking two fingers up, but it’s intended to disrupt, to grab your attention – it stops people floating around their cities like zombies and gets them to interact with their environment a bit more…

‘better than most graffiti…’ what disdain from Billy! It’s not as easy as it looks, you know. Check out the Wooster Collective and come back and tell me it’s not an art form. Really, if you had to paint something on a wall, a message to the world, what would you do? Without the luxury of being able to write as many words as you choose to write a blog post, now…

Welcome Savannah - got to say, it's lovely being called sugar, especially in a Georgian accent...

I think you get better graffiti in East London. And if I tried to do it it would be 8 million times crapper then the crappest of the crap graffiti.

I like the fact that it exists though I'd like to see more people doctoring the billboards. There were a load on the way into Bristol that always got doodled on, to amusing effect.

Here is the Argentinian version of what Billy is talking about - Oscar Brahim a taxi driver/artist:

oh for heavens sake - I have no idea how to give you the link just search under Oscar Brahim, if you´re interested!

oh (very sheepish), I´ve just realised that if you make the page bigger you can see the whole link.

Sorry to have wasted so much space with my technological incompetence...
