Pop Quiz

Um *clears throat nervously* so I was thinking, there's all these bloggers in London, and most of us seem to like pop music, and it can be a bit awkward When Bloggers Meet, but if you have another activity to focus on it breaks the ice, so what I was thinking right, was that we could have a kind of... pop quiz/pub quiz/blogmeet... And so our friends outside of London/the UK were not left out they could maybe supply us with some of the questions.

I'm thinking maybe around September, when people tend to come back from summer holidays and some of us return to school and have nothing to look forward to except work...

What do you reckon? *waits for tumbleweed*

Well I think its a good idea.

An interesting idea

Hey, you could bring portable speakers and people could make a playlist of songs for an intro quiz on their iPod (or similar)!

And sometimes (just sometimes) the non-London-dwelling bloggers (e.g. me!) manage to make the trip to the Big Smoke, y'know.

Yeah, great idea, How was your birthday? Were you suffering the next day? Heather (HB)

Brilliant idea. Blogmeet, pub quizz.

Will take some organasational skills to pull togother, but yeah totally brilliant idea.

I like pop music, and pubs.

I'm there!

I love orange juice especially with Vodka... I'd love to be there!

Thank you Changing Man! You are of course invited, if it gets off the ground.

Fabulous idea Anxious. Would you come to the Big Smoke? I'd love it.

Thanks Heather! Come and play! Yes thank you - head a bit hurty the next day - which just goes to show, we learn nothing as we get older.

Why thank you Adrian - hmm, organisational skills I don't have, delegation now...

Yay, Billy!

Yay Cream! Would you come? That would be fab. I'd buy you a vodka and orange juice.

All we need now is a date, a venue, a quiz master, questions, possibly a dj/sound system, a way of inviting people/recording different teams - any takers?

(Though possibly it would not work with only 7 of us - or would be a very short quiz - so if you like the idea, pass it on on your blogs?)

I made it to a blogmeet last year, annie.

Depends on whether I can get a decently priced train ticket on the chosen day. I'm not paying the standard fare as it's extortionate!

This sounds fab. I probably won't be able to make it. But do you want me to e-mail some particularly evil questions?

Del said...

Intriguing idea. I like it. Count me in (I am planning a holiday in September, but hopefully it won't clash)

Annie said...

Anxious, it's daylight robbery. Hopefully we'll be able to plan it well enough ahead that people can get cheaper tickets if they need to.

Ah Tim, I wish I could fly you in to do the questions, who better? I would love some evil questions and was thinking especially of you. (No answers yet though, as I would cheat.)

Natalie, be there or be square!

Del, how DARE you take a holiday when we need your musical knowledge?

Please put the word out people... in fact, tell your readers to email me so I can get an idea if there are viable numbers...

If you're in need of inspiration, the Retro Bar (off the Strand) holds a music pub quiz every week. It might help with the research. I think it's held on Tuesdays. It is a bar for gays, but it's very friendly if you're ok with that.

Interesting... will check it out

up for that. Could you include a few opera questions so I don't end up with nul points please

Hurrah! I *love* music quizzes. Count me in! I'm away on the 8th Sep and from the 23rd-30th, but don't let that get in the way of your plans - I'm sure there will be more blogmeets.

Annie said...

Hurrah! Welcome GSE! Ooh, opera questions, most definitely, that will raise the tone.

Patroclus, fab, I will try to find a date you can make.

How can I do this thing? It's a bit of a catch-22 - people will probably come if it's a definite date, but I can't make it a definite date if I'm not sure folks will turn up...

patroclus said...

Fix the date first, always the best way. You'll never get everyone, but it's much better to have the date as the constant...

Annie said...

Okey dokey - I'm thinking maybe I can find a ready-made pop quiz, that way it doesn't matter how many people there are.

Hurray for Pashmina! Looking into it, there are barely any music quizzes on in London, which is surprising.

Hello. I'm new here via oye billy! I love music quizzes. Can I come please?

Hi Rockmother! With a name like this, I definitely want you on my team.
