Newsflash

Making a concerted effort to be more outward-looking and aware of the news in this blog. It is shamefully introspective and lacking in current events. So.

This is a story to raise the spirits.

Gina Lollobrigida (79) to wed her 45 year old lover. "First came passion, love followed
afterwards."Go, La Lollo!

Gina contemplates taking a husband - but whose?

Meanwhile, in the Evening Standard magazine, Kimberley 'daughter of Rod' Stewart claims to enjoy a drink in the Dolphin in Mare Street, Hackney. Truly bizarre.

(Though it's true, when Lindsay Lohan's not in LA she can be found propping up the bar in the Catford Wetherspoons, while Jade Jagger often shuns the Ibizan nightclubs for a nice pint of bitter in a Peckham local.)

Kimberley dresses down for an evening in the Dolphin

(Here is some proper news about Amnesty and bloggers fighting web censorship in China and other places). Hurrah for the Open Net Iniative and the Freenet Project!

Del, Heat come to me for the exclusives you know.

Billy, I believe it's just your regular Irish pub with Sky Sports - v surprising for a celeb to have name-checked - now Hoxton/Shoreditch pubs you can understand. Maybe she's keepin' it real...

Heather, those Italians know how to turn it on don't they?

Realdoc - must confess, it's an ooooold photo.

Annie,

I too have cancelled all my fave mid shelf mags and in future shall look only to you as an honest source on Stars and Booze. In fact why not call your blog 'Stars and Booze'. Or maybe just 'Stars', or 'Booze'. You choose, I'm tired now, shall have to lie down. What? Who's this on my sofa, why it's Mel Gibson! What Mel? Slaminsky's 'Stars and Booze'? You'd prefer just 'Booze'? Think I do too. She's Jewish dontchaknow? You didn't? Where you going Mel? Mel?...

Bugger.

Hola!

Ah...Lollo. Anyone remember her in Bad Man's River?

Dan - ah, Mel, Mel, Mel. And he and Goldie Hawn seemed like such great mates - they'll never make another rom-com together again...

Señor T, hola! I never saw her in anything - was she any good as an actress?

In this particular film I would say Gina looked nice and James Mason looked embarrassed. In fairness, she probably went on to do better things. 'Falcon Crest' for example...
