Life after work

I know most people with proper grownup jobs don't get half-term at all, & I shouldn't be complaining, but it is immensely painful going back to work.

The first paragraph about this inspirational lady hasn't half cheered me up though. Can you guess why?

I love the hairy armpits.

She must have been quite good as a primary teacher; I wonder if the kids had to call her 'Miss Peaches'? By the way long awaited podcast up.

But she was "uncertified"!

Agree re half term - not looking forward to tomorrow but rather to the Easter hols - there's always a silver lining, eh?

Good luck with them tomorrow!

Ooh, she lives in Berlin. That photo does look very much as if it's taken on a Berlin balcony. Are you going to meet here when here? (I'll happily gatecrash the occasion.)

And she´s older than you! As the years mount up, I am starting to collect the people who I can still look up to to give hope that there is still plenty time to write that hit novel, wander into the new woody allen film planned for production in barcelona, be discovered by a hip band etc etc. Very encouraging as the world of popular culture has far too many 20 year olds with autobiographies...

Bah humbug to the end of half term - how long till Easter?

Blogworld synchronicity alert - I too was on Peaches' wikipedia page just yesterday, because Loganoc played 'We Don't Play Guitars' on her radio show on Sat. Spooky! Or maybe not!

Either way, Annie, you have years and decades ahead of you in which to change career, should you wish to do so. Just look at Mary Wesley. Well, I mean, she's dead now, but don't let that put you off.

Note to self: do not ever attempt to become motivational speaker.

What does "uncertified" mean?

Mental not to self to set off earlier to work because of the 4WD vehicles taking little Johnny and little Jane all of 30 yards to work.

Effing blogger eating comments again.

Oh and of course Peaches rules... such filth and top tunes into the bargain.

Kaz, I hadn't noticed them - even better!

The Curve - hurrah!

The Whales - unlike us, who are 'certifiable', right.

BiB - that would be fun. Apparently she's on tour (I checked) but in the USA - bum - as I would love to see her live.

Em, EXACTLY! I will add her to the list, under Helen Mirren. 6 weeks til Easter - the pain...

Patroclus, it is spooky. There is something uncanny about reading posts or seeing mentions of odd things on unconnected blogs - it's like a meme, yet not. How does it work? How? And thank the lord for Mary Wesley.

Billy - I'm guessing they mean 'unqualified'. (as in, without going through official teacher training.) That Wikipedia page is somewhat odd, it misquotes her by changing the um, 'muthafunsta' word to 'lesbian', which makes no sense then at all.

Llewtrah, bad naughty parents. All our kids live local, nobody drives - we all just breathe in the carbon monoxide which wafts over from the Blackwall Tunnel to get our fix of private transport.

Because she "plays almost all the instruments for her songs"?

Right, multi-instrumentalists always put a smile on my face...
