What do I get?

Musical theme tune/mood for the day: What Do I Get? - The Buzzcocks

Food for the day: Roast chestnuts, all burnt and black on the outside, off a street stall. Tis the season.

Mood for the day: Frustration

Thought of the day: Why, why, why is EVERYBODY, regardless of religions, belief, etc, forced to acknowledge Christmas? There's no opting out. I would like to plan a little civil disobedience.

Consolation of the day: Cough going after a mere 9 months, can celebrate with a ciggie.

Crush of the day: Ian McKellen (interviewed in the Guardian). Yes, I know it's perverse, I can't help it. Le coeur a ses raisons...

And you?

Musical theme tune/mood for the day: Buzz of the computer, finishing some work off.

Food for the day: Starvation. No time.

Mood for the day: Gloom-lite at wishing I wasn't a translator (though that's the mood every day).

Thought of the day: Hmm, I wish I wasn't so hungry and that I wasn't a translator. Perhaps I need to replace my computer so that it doesn't buzz.

Consolation of the day: The Russian doesn't hate me.

Crush of the day: Pavel Novotny, which is too babyish, as he is a plastic porn-star. Otherwise, everyone, as usual.

Aw, BiB. What would you do instead if you could? When I win the lottery, I'll keep you in the luxury that you deserve.

*googles Pavel Novotny* My word! I say! I don't blame you. (Though he is curiously hairless. Is this the fashion in his line of work?)

A winter festival is a good thing. At least we don't have to go to church. The relentless commercialism gets me down though, and it's not even December yet.

I have to buy an extra present as my niece's birthday falls on December 25th!

I'm with Billy, I like to celebrate Yuletide. And I have more reason to hate it's ubiquity, as it annoyingly obscures the far more important celebration of my birth...

Musical theme tune/mood for the day: Rilo Kiley - 'A Better Son/Daughter'. Feeling a bit lost, but trying my best to be at my best, home to see the folks and chatting with good friends.

Food for the day: Sunday roast with all the trimmings.

Mood for the day: Battling through the continual torrent of confusing, conflicting emotions.

Thought of the day: Every day in every way I am getting better and better. I hope.

Consolation of the day: Still feeling rather smug about seeing Bono and The Edge doing an acoustic opener for Biffy Clyro and We Are Scientists on Friday night.

Crush of the day: The girl sat next to me on Friday. Who I sincerely hope hasn't discovered my blog yet and then followed the link here...

Poor niece, Billy. I hope everyone does get her two presents, and make a fuss of her. (I think Rad has the same birthday.)

Poor Del. I hope you get two presents, and a fuss made of you. You saw Bono and the Edge as a backing band?! Were they advertised on the bill?
Awww... go Del. You're at least in with a chance with your crush, unlike me and Ian McKellen.

Much as I like to consider myself the second coming I'm afraid I arrived two days earlier. :D

All the same I do sympathise with Del and Billy's niece cos there's some right stingey cunts out there. Some of them related to me.

My middle sister two years ago: 'Here's your Christmas Present, oh, and it's your Birthday Present too!"

Me: 'Gee, thanks! Your Birthday's in March right? When do you want your present?'

Sis: What do you mean?

Me: 'Well, you can either have it in March or wait until Christmas day. Which would you prefer?'

Sis: 'I don't understand.'

Me: 'Nah, didn't think you would.' :D

(It was a shit present too!)

Crush of the day: Miranda Richardson. I've no idea what her personal predilections are, but I've decided for the purposes of argument that she bats for t'other side, just to push the whole thing even further into the realms of impossibility.

Musical theme tune/mood for the day: None, which probably, at least, partly explains mood for the day.

Food for the day: Leftovers. Fridge needs cleaning.

Mood for the day: Gloom AND frustration. Being a parent of a teenager suddenly seems hard. And the Sunday Herald (formerly Glasgow Herald) has more errors than are permissable in a broadsheet.

Thought of the day: Why do we have to learn things by making our own mistakes?

Consolation of the day: Can see bedroom floor again.

Crush of the day: James McAvoy and Alistair Darling (a bit). Not Greg Wise, curiously.

Annie, don't think of it as Christmas, think of it as the Winter Solstice - then you get to be a pagan!

Have Rad, Del (or indeed, Billy's niece) any tips re. finding a restaurant, in which to celebrate an almost Christmas birthday, that IS'NT serving an overpriced "festive" menu?

ISN'T, not IS'NT - sorry!

Maccy D's innit. Seriously though, you can do it. We went to a french place last year, which hadn't resorted to seasonal fayre, and was all the better for it.

And no, the U2 boys weren't advertised. I had a tip off. And yes, less a crush, more a hopefult prospect... We'll see.

Ah ha! Ian Mckellen! Now maybe we are edging nearer to finding a solution to your dating search - you are a young straight woman who is attracted to older gay men. Tricky but it might just work, check out the dating part of this website but keep you gender vague...

Mood for the day: Relaxed

Thought of the day: I'm too relaxed to think.

Consolation of the day: I'll still have a job for Xmas.

Crush of the day: Pam Grier.
